Greybeard, aka Plato,

was a neighborhood kitty who belonged to a sweet lady who lived down the street from our office. He was an indoor/outdoor kitty. He was confident and cool. Nothing rattled him. He came to visit each day, coming inside for pets and snacks. One day, someone who had been fired from the office next door stole Greybeard and took him across state lines. After much investigation, Greybeard's location was discovered and the sheriff, who had already served warrants for different criminal activity to the person, went to her home to get Greybeard. While he was holding Greybeard, our kitty friend jumped out of his arms and fled into the woods. A two week search was initiated. Searches through the woods at night with flashlights occurred, and posters with offered reward were plastered in a mile radius. Each time a tip came in, our founder drove 45 minutes to the location to check it out. Eventually, after several false starts, Greybeard was spotted in the woods. When our founder got to the location, he was casually rolling on his back without a care in the world. Greybeard came back to Chattanooga. Since his owner could not make him an indoor kitty and he was at risk of another cat-snatching event by the original perpetrator, he was surrendered to our founder and came to live at her house. He lived a long and full life, adjusting well to indoor only life.
